"Snow in Seconds" is a fabulous idea for any classroom in a desert. Just add water and the powder turns into fluffy, cold snow!

I have done this before and wanted to let you know that to add to the snow effect...I had several pairs of mittens for them to wear. I also gave the students ice cream scoops to help them make snow balls. My students have also used white crayons and graters to see what their black piece of construction paper will look like with the shavings. Lastly, I have had them trace their hand on paper and then trace their hand and decorate their hand to make it look like a mitten. We would then read the story The mitten and talk about what animal would like to live in their mitten. Hope these ideas help when doing your plan.
