Sight Word Puzzles

Last time I made the Easter egg sight word puzzles, I used Sharpie. It didn't last, so this time I'm trying puffy paint. Hopefully, it won't get picked off!



They're drying in ice cube trays. :)

Sight Words

To practice sight words earlier this year, I have decided to send home flashcard lists based on the students reading groups. There are 13 word lists, totalling the CCSD's suggested 100 sight words. I put the cards in a bag, with the child's name on it and the parent letter below.

Lists will be sent home Monday and tests will be given Friday. A student will only receive the next list if he/she reads the list with automaticity. I'm not sure if I will also be doing "Spelling Words" this year.

When they know the first 50, they get a gumball for the goal board!

Spelling Word Review

I created a simple PowerPoint with the previous and current weeks' spelling words. When they correctly identify the word, I move on to the next. To spice things up, I projected the slideshow onto the ceiling. They loved it!

Spelling Word Baskets

A DEFINITE favorite, like last year.

We made baskets for our spelling words. The baskets are filled with Easter grass and the spelling words are printed on cardstock. My kiddies love these!

Offices

Here are the offices we use for testing. There are two rules for when our offices are up...

1. No talking.

2. No looking in anyone else's office.

Spelling Word: The

Today we went "crazy" with our spelling word, "the," and wrote over it in glue then embellished it with Cheerios. The kiddies thought it was great!

Spelling Tests

After I have graded the spelling tests, I announce who spelled correctly and they get to sign our "Awesome Spellers" board. They really love to write on the whiteboard, so it's quite the incentive. I made the sign with my Cricut and Xyron 900, which turned it into a magnet. I just slap it up there on Fridays.
