Love Potion #9

We made Love Potion on Valentine's Day, to wash down our cupcakes. I put the potion in dispensers so the kids could get it themselves. They also got to take about an ounce home for their families. I gave them a tiny amount because of the ridiculous amount of sugar. I told the students they would be filled with loving thoughts and kindness.

Valentine's Day Mailboxes

Today, we prepared for tomorrow's card exchange by making mailboxes. We read _Hello Kitty:_Happy_Valentine's_Day_. In the story, valentines get mixed up, so I emphasized the importance of matching the names to the correct mailbox! First, we painted and let them dry while we went to Computers.


Then we decorated with lace, paper, and stickers.


I used puffy paint to write each child's name on their mailbox. Now, we are ready!

Valentine's Day Counters

As math manipulatives this Valentine's week, we are using old candy hearts. I sprayed them with hairspray to keep bugs (and kindergartners) away!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We decorated 2 cookies. One to eat for snack and the other to take home.

Each child was given a heart and they were asked to decorate it with their families with items special to their family. Then we shared with each other. This is my example.

Every child brought valentines for the whole class and we spent 30 minutes reading the names and searching for the proper mailbox. Great for decoding!

We sorted candy hearts!

In Art Center, we made "I Love You" streamers for our valentines.

As a center, there were hearts with high-frequency words printed that the children had to put together.

They transcribed in journal center.

Parent donations -- for our fun-filled day!

Oh, and we had about six parent-helpers for the AM AND the PM classes each. Needless to say, it went pretty well!
